Behind the scenes, the Community Builders Task Team have been working hard to refine and finalise the Community Development Action Plan! We are pleased to report that at the end of January it was issued to Rural Aid for graphic design and printing of 200 copies. Soon we will expect hard copies of these beautiful community documents in our hands, ready for the next steps! Stay tuned for our official launch party to reflect on the journey to date and celebrate this moment.
Through extensive engagement and consultation, we have harnessed the knowledge and creativity of our community, ensuring that this plan truly reflects the aspirations and desires of those who live, work and play in Clarence Town. Back in March 2025, we held a Community Opportunity Workshop where 80 people engaged in vibrant conversations with positive ideas. This workshop, along with information gathered via ‘Big Idea’ cards, surveys and targeted workshops has formed the plan which outlines our vision, guiding principles, challenges & opportunities, and strategic actions for Clarence Town’s community focused future.
Reaching this milestone and publishing the action plan makes our community eligible for up to $10,000 in seed funding from Rural Aid to commence one or more of our priority projects! For this Action Plan to succeed, it relies on the involvement and collaboration of individuals and organisations from across our community. The launch workshop will provide an opportunity for groups to take ownership of initiatives within the Plan and start turning ideas into real action.
Actions generating the most support to date include projects such as:
-
community events or river festivals
-
arts & sculpture installations
-
connection to the river at the Village Green
-
improving waste & recycling options
-
street planting, community garden & village beautification
-
youth activities & leadership engagement
-
skate park, sporting oval & playground upgrades
With many hands joined in purpose we can make exciting things happen in our wonderful community!
