Dungog District Chamber of Commerce (DDCC) has been buzzing with activity, bringing the community together through inspiring events and initiatives.

September saw a fantastic networking dinner at the Royal Hotel Dungog, proudly sponsored by the local Mutual Bank. The evening was a resounding success, with around 60 attendees, including Mutual Bank CEO Mark Williams, board members, staff, local businesses, and community organisations. The CEO reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to providing face-to-face services at their Dungog branch, a promise warmly welcomed by the community. The event also offered a unique opportunity for attendees to share updates about their businesses and organisations, fostering collaboration and connection.

October marked the launch of DDCC’s impactful ‘Job Ready’ workshops, led by the highly experienced Cheryl Royle. These workshops, tailored for young job seekers under 25, aim to equip them with essential skills for securing employment—whether it’s a part-time role for students or a stepping stone to a long-term career. Cheryl’s dedication to empowering local youth has been evident through years of work in Dungog schools, and her generosity in sharing her expertise continues to make a difference.

Looking ahead, DDCC’s AGM is set for Thurs, November 13, at 6 pm at the Dungog RSL Club. With several committee members stepping down, the Chamber is calling on passionate DDCC members to step up and take on these vital roles to help continue the work of Chamber into the future.

Excitement is also building for the much-loved Dowling Street Christmas Party, scheduled for Friday, November 28, from 4 pm to 7 pm and into the night. This year’s theme, ‘Aussie Christmas,’ promises a vibrant celebration with bright shirts, dresses, shorts, and thongs setting the tone. The CBD will transform into a festive wonderland, with the street closed to traffic from 3 pm to 7 pm, thanks to the support of Dungog Rotary. Families can look forward to free entertainment, activities, late-night shopping, stalls, a free movie at the James Theatre, and performances by local schools. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and celebrate the unique charm of our Shire. With so much happening, there’s never been a better time to be part of the Dungog Shire community!
