Caitlin shares an update on her journey to Nationals…

“My training for Nationals 2024 started in May 2023, with the 2023 short course season being the start of my competitions. Finishing the winter season at Senior State placing 4th in 2 out of my 3 breaststroke events. Then we started the 2023/24 summer season where in December at Senior State Age I made the 200m Brst final placing 7th and the 100m Brst final placing 4th. We headed to Orange in January for Country Regionals where I qualified for 9 events at the Country Championships which were held in Sydney in February where I had 6 top 10 finishes and brought home 2 medals.

On April 10th my family headed to the Gold Coast for the Australian National Age Championships, I had qualified for the 200m Brst, 100m Brst and 50m Brst. At the 2023 Nationals in the 200m Brst I finished 25th in the nation, 100m Brst I finished 48th in the nation and the 50m Brst I finished 24th in the nation. This year I had improved significantly and moved up the rankings finishing 20th in the 200m Brst, 17th in the 50m Brst and after qualifying 17th fastest in the 100m Brst I was in the B final which I swam at 7:17pm on Saturday night the 13th of April. I improved my time in the final by 1.15 seconds to finish in 14th place in the nation.

I was very happy with my results at this years Nationals and am looking forward to starting training for Nationals 2025 after a short break.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Clarence Town and the surrounding areas for their ongoing support and for purchasing plants from our local Post Office. Money from all the plants goes towards helping Georgia and myself to keep chasing our swimming goals that we set for ourselves at the start of every winter season.”
